What is #FloatForMAPS?

#FloatForMAPS is a float industry-wide gift card campaign that will take place this July. Not only will the #FloatForMAPS campaign generate extra funds for PTSD research, it will also bring in new customers during notoriously slower summer months for float centers. Participating centers will donate 15% of their #FloatForMAPS Gift Cards to MAPS.org to support the exciting Phase 3 trials of MDMA assisted psychotherapy for PTSD.

Join by visiting FloatForMAPS.com and clicking on “Join the Campaign”at the top of the webpage before 5/31/18.

What is MAPS?

Founded in 1986 by Rick Doblin (2016’s Float Conference Speaker), the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit research and educational organization that develops medical, legal, and cultural contexts for people to benefit from the careful uses of psychedelics and marijuana.

Their most recent study is on MDMA-Assisted Psychotherapy for the Treatment of Severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Why We’re Excited To Support MAPS

MAPS’ biggest project to date is MDMA assisted psychotherapy to treat PTSD, which demonstrated groundbreaking results with Phase 2 trials. All participants had chronic, treatment-resistant PTSD, and had suffered from PTSD for an average of 17.8 years. 68% of the 107 participants no longer showed symptoms after just 3 sessions of MDMA-assisted psychotherapy. Additional follow up studies showed that these benefits were sustained an average 45 months later, something that is nearly unheard of in traditional treatments for PTSD. Similar success in Phase 3 will lead to an FDA approved treatment option for veterans or anyone with trauma.

MAPS has taken huge steps to implement a viable, rigorously tested scientific system of trial MDMA therapy. MAPS needs $500,000 to complete the final trial. With our help, this treatment can be made available to the 25,000,000 people who suffer from serious trauma across the globe.

What happens in the session?

The participant undergoes 3 psychotherapy sessions after being administered MDMA. The study is double-blind, meaning that neither the psychotherapists nor the patient know if the dosage is active or placebo. Double-blind studies produce the most credible results in the scientific community and are regarded as the most irrefutable proof of effect.

MAPS’ double-blind study is showing MDMA as incredibly effective at putting patients into an introspective state where they can reevaluate trauma. During these treatments, unconscious defense mechanisms which have protected the patient from revisiting past traumatic experiences are taken down. With the patient’s defense mechanisms neutralized, the psychotherapist guides the patient to rewrite the way their mind and body relate to the traumatic event. Having obtained control over past trauma and the emotions that are intimately linked to them, the patient is empowered to move forward with peace and freedom, PTSD symptom-free.

WIN-WIN STRATEGY

#FloatForMAPS is a project started by Michael Garrett of Reboot Float Spa and Ryan Duey of Capitol Floats to help fund PTSD research. It’s an amazing opportunity for float centers to show our unified support by raising money for MAPS at a monumental moment in the process of psychedelic research. The float industry’s dedication to making the world a more healthy and vibrant place has become a hallmark of our community, and this project falls right in line with those goals.

In addition to raising money and awareness for MAPS, this campaign will provide float centers the opportunity to attract new customers who naturally align with floating. Through the #FloatForMAPS Gift Card, float centers will have the opportunity to raise additional funds outside of normal float sales during the slower month of July.

To help you spread the word about #FloatForMAPS, we will be creating and distributing all the marketing collateral necessary to help make this a successful campaign. These materials will be at your disposal to help educate and ultimately drive sales throughout the month. In addition #FloatForMAPS will have a centralized public website, which will state our mission and goals as well as directly promote all involved float centers.

What #FloatForMAPS will provide you during the campaign:

  • Centralized #FloatForMAPS website stating the mission and goals of the campaign.
  • Interactive map directing all interested parties to participating float centers.
  • Social media marketing materials to be utilized throughout the month.
  • Information regarding MAPS and updates on their research.
  • Scripted newsletter with facts and information about the campaign that can be sent to your email.
  • Additional marketing to help promote the campaign.

How to get involved:

It really is as easy as visiting FloatForMAPS.com and clicking on “Join the Campaign” at the top of the webpage. You must sign up by 5/31/18 to be included in the campaign. Leading up to the launch in July, you’ll receive marketing imagery and assets to promote the campaign and an agreement to give 15% of your #FloatForMAPS gift card proceeds to MAPS.org by 8/15/18. The price of your #FloatForMAPS gift card is completely up to you, we only ask that it is available for the month of July.

We are excited to be spearheading this campaign and continuing, as a community of float centers, to create impactful and positive change for our communities and the rest of the world.
